Hello parents,
Welcome to the Parent Information section of our 2nd grade classroom website. This year we are planning on going on felid trips to places such as Gifford Farm, the Sac Museum, and the Zoo! Before each field trip there will be an Itinerary below. Also below I will have a table stating what we will be learning in each subject during the month.

MathWe will be learning how to add and subtract numbers that are single digits from 0-9. After we learn that around the end of the month we will start to learn how to add and subtract double digit numbers from 10-99. At the end of the month we will take an assessment on adding and subtracting.
Reading We are going to start reading groups they will being reading short stories out of  a text book in class they will read  4 different stories. Each week the students will read a story and then they will have to do a small in class project on it. The in class project will include making a poster or writing a scrpit and playing out the story in their own words.
Social Studies/Science

Every two weeks we will switch subjects for the first two weeks we will study communities and how they are set up. The students will then take a written assessment In science we will learn different land forms. They will have a project that is their assessment they will have as a group to build a type of land form and then describe it to the class.

Writing

In writing we will be learning the basics of writing a story. We will go through the writing process for the first two weeks but then we will start writing our own stories that are fiction. Also each week we on Monday the students will take a spelling pretest. These tests are different the year before the students will now have to write sentences using correct grammar spelling and punctuation. They will then take the final test on Friday.
